Send music into space?

Last week nasa has send the beatles song into deep space some thing to do with 25years aniversary or something.. And nasa sends waves into a specific planet which of course the music wont get there for about 120 years time.. Why that specific planet? why not into the inture space so that they get hopes more quicker fineding if there is anything life out there who would prob listern to us instead a specific planet when they dont even now if its just a dead planet or such..

If i was to yeal towards space from earth and say (helloooooo) real loud and that i was to stand on top of the mountain would my voice travel into space or will it tirritate slowly and disapears into space and leaves no marks? Or could my voice reach into space slowly or not far!

I believe we are not alone after all i wonder if life is really exsist because life is a strange place we live in with strange planrts and space irs almot like we live in a very futureristic life just like babylon5 with real planets.

no. it wasn't nasa.

it was SETI (they sent the Beatles, "all across the universe")

there is VERY little in space. (a little bit of hydrogen atoms every few cm cubed) but over all, not enough for sound to move.

sound needs a "medium" to travel through.

light, xrays, radiowaves, microwaves, ultraviolet waves all do not need a medium.

anyway forget about seti's signal.........

every single radio broadcast and communication since the beginning of radio (113 years ago) has been sent out into space.

the signals from 113 years ago have reached 113 light years which encompasses about 16,500 stars.

I stand corrected,

The intensity decay is inversely proportional to the square of the distance. Sirius, twice as far as A-Centauri would receive only 25% of the intensity of the signal.

if space was inside a planet, then thats one weird planet since it doesn't display any characteristics of other planets in our field of view.

it would not be considered a planet.

please try to keep your question down to 1 question per question instead of 10 wrapped into one. you won't get answers an all of your topics and your just wasting your own typing time.

actually whats worse is they arn't broadcasting it to a specific planet, their broadcasting it to a star, with no planets orbiting it. its probably just a "PR stunt" to raise public awareness of space science.

link to a credable astronomy blogger's article added as source... scratch that, too long, just search for beatles to find the article on that site
well nasa sends radio waves into space in hopes that one day there will get to someone who will inturn hear hear this and know that there are beings sending messages just like we are listening to hear any communication's from space which is called S.E.T.I search for extra terrestrail intelligence and we've found or heard nothing yet,
weird
